The Headies organisation, Nigeria’s famous music awards programme, has responded to the recent Grammy Awards, which included a full scorn of Nigerian artists in a variety of categories.
The news drew responses on social media, with Twitter user One Jobless Boy arguing that, in light of the Grammy failures, the Headies should now be the premier award ceremony for Nigerian musicians.
One Jobless Boy resorted to Twitter to vent his feelings. Surprisingly, the Headies’ official Twitter account cited the message, indicating agreement with the concept, and included an emoji to emphasise their support for the remark.
This answer comes on the heels of disappointing news for Nigerian performers at the Grammy Awards.
According to previous reports, prominent performers such as Davido and Burna Boy lost all of their Grammy nominations.
Davido, who had three nominations, and Burna Boy, who had four, faced tight opposition but were unable to secure a Grammy triumph.
Notably, Ayra Starr, nominated for Best African Art, and several Nigerian artists in various categories were disappointed.
