Celebrity chef and renowned Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has issued an apology to a customer who expressed her dissatisfaction regarding a N6,000 bowl of pepper soup purchased at her establishment, ‘Food by Hilda.’
The customer, identified as Omotayo Zinnat, gained significant attention on social media after voicing her grievances about the small serving of turkey pepper soup. She articulated her disappointment, describing the dish as being served cold and likening its appearance to “dog vomit.”
Sharing a video of her complaints online, she said, “My food by Hilda, I just got back from work. I placed an order for peppersoup worth N6k and this is what they brought to me. I was already having a bad day at work and had not eaten anything since morning cos I wasn’t feeling too well and I planned on ordering something else from Hilda’s restaurant tomorrow but I was like since I’m going home, let me just order peppersoup and probably boil rice or something with it and this is what they brought to me.”
“And then when I messaged them on WhatsApp, all they had to say was like ‘Oh, this is what one portion of peppersoup looks like and that they are working on increasing the portion. If you know that you are going to work on your portion, why did you decide to experiment with my own food. I don’t understand, How much is one kilo of chicken because I don’t understand why you decide to sell this to me for N6k. Turkey Peppersoup for N6k and it’s not even hot. It looks like dog’s vomit. I am so pissed. If you know that this is how you are going to sell your N6k pepper soup then increase the price and increase the quantity cos I don’t get it.”
Her video sparked a variety of reactions on social media, including criticism from online commentator Verydarkman, who admonished the customer for her complaints, suggesting she could have prepared the pepper soup herself.
In the course of ongoing online conversations, Zinnat disclosed a recent video in which she revealed that Hilda Baci had contacted her through TikTok to apologize for the N6,000 pepper soup purchased at her restaurant. Additionally, she provided a screenshot of Hilda’s extensive message, indicating that she would be receiving a N50,000 food voucher as compensation.
Zinnat also conveyed her sincere appreciation to Hilda Baci for recognizing her concerns.
