Hilda Dokubo Criticizes Tinubu’s State Of Emergency In Rivers, Calls Move Undemocratic

Nollywood actress and politician Hilda Dokubo has strongly criticized the recent declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, her place of origin.

Reports earlier confirmed that President Bola Tinubu announced the emergency measure during a national broadcast on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

In his address, the president cited ongoing unrest, vandalism of oil pipelines by militants, and a governance crisis as reasons for the decision. He emphasized that despite multiple attempts to resolve the standoff between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the state’s House of Assembly, governance in Rivers had significantly weakened, depriving residents of effective leadership.

With tensions mounting and security concerns growing, Tinubu stated that the drastic intervention was necessary to restore order. As part of the declaration, the governor, his deputy, and the state legislature were suspended for six months, with federal authorities stepping in to manage the crisis and prevent further deterioration.

Reacting to the development, Dokubo took to social media, where she denounced the move, calling it “shameless.” The veteran actress alleged that the president’s actions were aimed at seizing control of Rivers State’s economic resources rather than addressing the true concerns of its people.

In her caption, she wrote:
