Retired actress Dalyce Curry, famous for her performances in movies such as The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues, has sadly passed away in the current wildfires in Los Angeles, as reported by Forbes on Monday. She was 95 years old.
Authorities confirmed to Punch that her remains were discovered at her destroyed home in Altadena, California.
Dalyce Kelley, Curry’s great-granddaughter, said that she last saw Curry on the evening of January 7 when she dropped her off at home.
The following morning, Kelley tried to check on her but couldn’t get through the police barriers in the area. Later, the family looked for Curry at the Pasadena Civic Centre, a shelter for those without homes, but they couldn’t find her.
Days later, it was confirmed by officials that Curry’s remains were located at her devastated property. “About an hour ago, the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE,” Kelley wrote on Facebook on Sunday, January 12. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”
“She was very active,” her granddaughter Loree Beamer-Wilkinson said. “You wouldn’t think she was 95.”
Curry’s death is among at least 24 fatalities reported in the Los Angeles area due to the wildfires.
