Renowned Nigerian master of ceremonies and event host, Dickson Okoh Ekperi, popularly known as Lexie Armani, has established a distinctive reputation as the preeminent figure in matchmaking.
Recognized for igniting romantic connections at weddings, Armani’s matchmaking instances have become viral phenomena, amassing millions of views on TikTok and securing him a loyal following.
“My fans and viewers gave me the name after I created over 20 matchmaking wedding videos, each with at least a million views. The most popular one has over 4.5 million views,” Armani explained. “People really love watching me match strangers at events, and it’s amazing to see the response.”
Interestingly, the concept came about by chance. “It wasn’t planned at all,” he admitted. “I was just reading the room at a wedding and decided to do something fun in the spur of the moment. I had no idea it would blow up on the internet like this.”
Armani also follows up on his matches, showing a genuine interest in their progress. “Yes, I do follow up. I even try to film date stories for some of the couples, but most of them decline because they’re shy. I understand and respect their boundaries,” he said.
Of all his matchmaking moments, one remains unforgettable. “The best one for me personally was during a wedding where Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa, was present. That video has about 2.7 million views. It was my favorite because it was challenging, I wanted to make sure he either laughed or smiled during the process. When I finally got him to laugh, I felt like, Yes, I’m too good at this!”
