Hilda Baci, the Guinness World Record holder, has spoken out about being disowned by her father, Effiong Bassey Edem, and their strained relationship.

Hilda Baci stated this during a recent appearance on Taymesan Emmanuel’s ‘Tea with Tay’ program.

Her father has been active in her and her siblings’ life since they were children, according to the renowned chef. Things changed, however, when a heated argument between him and her mother had an influence on the children.

Her father’s unexpected departure hurt her the most, especially since she and her older brother, Gabriel, were about to end their undergraduate studies.

Hilda expressed her confusion as to why her father had ceased paying their education, especially after funding their academic journey through nursery, secondary school, and the early years of their tertiary education.

She did, however, remember a terrible day when she called her father to discuss her school expenses. To her amazement, he picked up the phone and basically played the ‘Who’s your father’ card, thereby disowning her over the phone.

Hilda initially felt her father was joking until he ceased financing her and sent her upkeep allowance.

In her words, “For me, I will say one of the biggest issues was when he abandoned me. He did not abandon me from on set I think that he was present for us to some extent. But when it came dawn on me, was when my father and mom had issues. It was more profounded on me because I was in 300 level second semester in University.”

“I pretty much remember our conversation between me and my father on one matriculation day. I was like, you did not bring food for me and his response was like, ‘Who’s your dad?’. It later dawned on me years after that he was not actually joking…..”
