“How my abusive marriage led me to alcoholism” – Actress Ayo Adesanya

  • Ayo Adesanya, a veteran Nollywood actress, has disclosed the severe abuse she endured in her failed marriage, which led to her relapse into alcoholism.
    • Adesanya, in an open interview with Chude Jideonwo, narrates about a decade of physical abuse from her ex-husband, including threats to pluck out her eyes.

    Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya has bravely shared her experiences of severe abuse during her unsuccessful marriage, indicating that the resulting trauma contributed to her struggle with alcoholism.

    In a revealing interview with media figure Chude Jideonwo, Adesanya detailed the physical abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband over a span of ten years, including threats to harm her severely with a knife.

    Additionally, she mentioned that he sought to hinder her acting career, imposing limitations on her professional development.

    “Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me,” she said. “He beat me so much that I became an alcoholic. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame of people saying I couldn’t keep a man.”

    In other news, Nigerian gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has issued a strong warning to women who admire him as he wrapped up the Hallelujah Challenge.

    Reports from GistLover indicate that Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode responded after some women showed interest in the singer. She mentioned that he received messages on TikTok expressing their feelings for him.

    In a video shared during the grand finale of the Hallelujah Challenge, the pastor stated that he has no intention of marrying another woman.

    He mentioned that he has purchased walking sticks for himself and his wife to use when they grow old together.

    In the recording, the singer of ‘Jesus Iye’ explained why his wife was not present at the Hallelujah Challenge. He said she was in South Africa spending his money.

    He also made it clear that no one could replace his wife and mentioned that anyone who has a crush on him is just wasting their time.

    The father of two prayed for the women who have feelings for him. He asked that their desire for him would end in Jesus’ name.

    In the video, the singer of ‘Tobechukwu’ also gave a shout-out to his two kids, celebrating them and encouraging their fans to show appreciation for their support.
