Nollywood actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has discussed his journey before becoming famous and his married life.
During an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, he recounted how his mentor in the Yoruba film industry warned him that he would not succeed within a year.
However, the actor remained calm and asked his boss for two years to show what he could achieve.
Lateef Adedimeji talked about how his wife, whom he has been married to for nearly four years, faces online bullying and is called barren because they haven’t had a child yet.
He mentioned that Mo Bimpe often shares the hurtful messages she receives on social media.
Lateef also pointed out that some colleagues who promised to help him with his project, Lisabi, did not support him. Fortunately, his wife was there for him and helped lift his spirits.
In his words:
“Someone once told me in the Yoruba movie industry that he gave me one year to see what I would become. I told him to give me two years and he will see what I will become.
My wife and I have received a lot of trolling. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say they would be all right.
I just called her one morning and asked if she would marry me and she said Yes.
When I wanted to do my first big screen job, Lisabi, I realized that everybody that I felt would stand by me was not there; there was nobody”.
