“I cannot play the role of lying inside a casket” – Actress Imade Osawaru reveals

Imade Osawaru, a Nollywood actress and movie producer, has stated that she cannot play a role of a dead or mad woman in a film.

In an interview with The Nation, Osawaru revealed that the two roles are what terrifies her, despite her soothing career.

“I think I have played enough roles except that of a mad woman or dead person. I cannot play the role of lying inside a casket. It is scary,” she said.

The University of Benin’s Public Administration graduate and accomplished international chef said she decided to become a producer after being stereotyped.

“When I started off, I began as an actor. If you are working for some people, they would want to stereotype you for some certain roles. All the roles they were giving me were seductive roles, a girl trying to snatch someone’s boyfriend or husband. In that role, I must be romantically attracted to people. I thought to myself that if I continue like this, I will only be getting this kind of role which I don’t want because I can play other roles even better. That was my motivation to go into producing my own movies. That was how I started producing so that I can give myself challenging roles. And since I started producing and because they saw what I can do, they started giving me other roles. Now I can play the role of a mother, sister, wife and so on.”

In other news, The relatives of the deceased musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba also known as Mohbad, have carried out a new post-mortem examination in order to ascertain the reason behind his death.

The Magistrate of the Coroner Court, T.A. Shotobi, who is based in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, granted an order on June 26 for Mr. Joseph Aloba, the deceased’s father, to arrange for a licensed and certified pathologist to conduct a completely independent autopsy on the late singer.

The court has also mandated that Aloba, the applicant, is responsible for covering all expenses related to the examination, assessment, and autopsy.

Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, announced in a statement released on Tuesday that the autopsy took place on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.

Odumosu stated that if the post-mortem procedure did not uncover the cause of death, the family would conduct toxicology and histology tests on the samples they had already obtained.

“The second autopsy as requested by the Aloba family and ordered by the Magistrate of the Coroner Court, Ms. T.A. Shotobi, was conducted on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, 2024. This autopsy is a two-part exercise, with the first part now completed.

“If the cause of d3ath cannot be determined from this initial examination, the second part will proceed, involving a toxicology and histology test on the necessary samples already obtained,” the statement read in part.

The legal team also revealed that Mohbad’s father, along with two independent pathologists chosen by him and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, were present during the procedure.

“This comprehensive procedure, conducted last Friday, was witnessed only by Mr. Joseph Aloba, the forensic pathologist appointed by Mr. Joseph Aloba and his team, legal representatives of both Mr. Joseph Aloba and a pathologist appointed by Wunmi Aloba to observe the procedure,” the statement added.

Mohbad passed away at 27 years old, on September 12, 2023, leading to heated debates on social media about the circumstances of his death.

The singer’s body were exhumed on September 21, 2023, in order to conduct an autopsy and determine the cause of his death.

Nevertheless, during the testimony at the Coroner’s Court on May 15, a pathologist disclosed that the cause of Mohbad’s death could not be determined through an autopsy because of the state of decomposition of his body.
