- Crossdresser Bobrisky has retracted defamatory statements made against Nigerian singer Falz and his father, Femi Falana SAN, after being issued a 24-hour suspension.
- Bobrisky clarified on Instagram that he did not make defamatory statements about Falz or his father and pending an official response from his legal counsel, he maintains his denial.
Following a 24-hour ultimatum to withdraw defamatory remarks directed at Nigerian artist Falz and his father in a widely circulated voice note, Femi Falana SAN, crossdresser Bobrisky has addressed the issue.
On October 16, 2023, Bobrisky utilized Instagram to articulate his stance, asserting that he has not made any defamatory comments regarding Falz or his father. He underscored that until he receives an official response from his legal representatives, he continues to reject the allegations leveled against him.
He wrote, “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: In reply to the two letters in circulation from the Law Firm of the Falanas. I like to state for the records and pending the official reply from my counsel, state for the avoidance of doubt that I, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, aka Bobrisky, did not publish any defamatory statement or statements concerning the learnt SAN and his Son Falz.”
Bobrisky emphasized that the individual responsible for the defamatory remarks should be held accountable.
“It is in the public domain pursuant to my solicitor’s letter dated the 27th day of September 2024 that I have denied any knowledge of what VDM published. I stand by my express denial and put the matter to strict proof and advise that whoever has been defamed should hold the publisher of the defamatory content and my fundamental rights to privacy of my communications should be respected and protected.”
In a subsequent story post, Bobrisky reiterated that the responsibility lies with Verydarkman, not himself.
“I OKUNEYE idris aka BOBRISKY didn’t give Falz or his dad any money for pardon. As a matter of fact no penny was given to them. Have said dis before and i will say it again. The person that published an Audio online should take fully responsible for what he posted in public. My lawyer will respond to any further information d public want to about dis ongoing issue trending on social media,” he wrote.
These remarks arise in the context of the ongoing legal disputes involving Falz, his father, Bobrisky, and media figure Verydarkman, who disseminated a purported voice recording of Bobrisky that caused a significant stir online. In this recording, the crossdresser admitted to not serving the time in prison that he was mandated to after being convicted of money laundering. He further alleged that he compensated both the father and son to assist him in obtaining a pardon.
Following the release of the controversial voice note, Falz and his father’s legal representatives issued Verydarkman a 24-hour deadline to retract his claims; however, he failed to comply. As a result of the legal proceedings, the court imposed a fine of ₦500 million on him and mandated the retraction of the defamatory statements.
