Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has called on governors within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) to place the needs of the people at the forefront of their leadership strategies.
Speaking during a meeting with governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari emphasized that leadership comes with both responsibilities and opportunities. He noted that the real challenge lies in maintaining a balance that ensures national growth while addressing citizens’ welfare.
He praised the efforts of the current APC governors and expressed optimism about their contributions to the country’s development. Buhari encouraged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to improving the lives of the Nigerian people.
Highlighting the need for integrity in public service, the former president said:
“During my time in office, I didn’t amass personal wealth or acquire assets. Leadership should not be about personal gain.”
Buhari also mentioned that his home in Kaduna had been renovated by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that while the exterior of the residence remained unchanged, the interior had seen notable improvements.
His remarks serve as a reminder to public officials to uphold accountability, integrity, and people-first policies in governance.
