Following his detention at the Police headquarters in Elewaran, Abeokuta, Nigerian street musician Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, has been humbled.
According to GISTLOVER, the Ogun State police command gave the “Odogwu Bitters’ ambassador a 72-hour deadline to present himself at the closest police station after he was seen roughhousing officers in a viral video.
As usual, Portable neglected to report to the closest police station, so he was taken into custody by the authorities and lodged at the State Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
A recent video that is going viral on the internet shows Portable, who has been humiliated, attempting to defend himself at the Police headquarters.
When questioned, Portable claimed he was unaware that the men who stormed his bar in the Sango Ota neighbourhood on Tuesday to arrest him were police officers.
“I didn’t know the people that came to my bar were police officers,” he said while standing in front of a police chief.
Meanwhile Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, earlier confirmed the arrest and said that the artiste had been invited for questioning five times.
Portable had been given a 72-hour ultimatum to surrender himself or be arrested after a petition was filed against him.
Oyeyemi said the singer has is currently cooling his feet at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
It was also gathered that the Portable will remain in police custody for 72 hours until Monday when he will be charged to court.
GISTLOVER recalls that the state police said he minimum force will be used while apprehending the hyper artiste.
There was drama early this week when the singer resisted arrest when some police officers stormed Odogwu Bar and Restaurant to whisk him away.
Portable challenged them to know the reason for them showing up and went on Instagram live to reveal that a Yahoo boy hired 20 police officers to intimidate him.
The security personnel were eventually forced to leave his office after their failed attempt to take him to the station.
