He said “I remember Funke Akindele, a big shout out to her, by the way; She had reached out to me maybe by Instagram or something.

She had watched some of those videos. She was working on something and wanted me to join her.

There was no such thing as Jennifer’s Diary; it wasn’t real.

The record-breaking artist performed to a full house at the 2,500-capacity venue, delivering exhilarating performances that had the audience cheering and singing along enthusiastically.

This concert in Malaysia followed Rema’s headline performance at the Eden Festival in New Zealand, where he shared the stage with fellow Afrobeats luminaries Tiwa Savage and Ruger.

The sold-out event in Kuala Lumpur underscores Rema’s prominence as a superstar, whose achievements have played a pivotal role in the global proliferation of Afrobeats.

Hailing from Benin, Rema is among the most recognized African artists in Asia, with his record-setting single “Calm Down” achieving remarkable success. This track not only became the first Afrobeat song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify but also earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the first song to top the MENA chart.

Rema has had a fruitful 2024, marked by the release of his second album, “HEIS,” which he described as an effort to return Afrobeats to its sonic origins. The album features collaborations with fellow Benin City artist Shallipopi and rapper Odumodublvck, and Rema has recently submitted it for Grammy consideration, aspiring for his first nomination.
