American actor Denzel Washington has announced that he has Nigerian ancestry.

In a recent interview with British-Nigerian media personality Ada Enechi, he discussed his heritage.

The ‘Gladiator II’ actor mentioned that his ancestry test shows he is 90 percent Irish and 10 percent Nigerian.

“I am 10 per cent Nigerian and 90 per cent Irish,” he stated.

Denzel Washington has suggested he might retire soon.

The 69-year-old actor mentioned during a press event for his new film ‘Gladiator II’ in Australia that ‘Black Panther 3’ could be one of his final projects before stepping back from acting.

In other news, Nigerian singer Niniola shared her reasons for staying an independent artist, even though record labels have approached her.

She said she turned down their offers because she understands the business side of music better than some of her peers.

Niniola believes that being independent allows her to have more creative freedom.

She discussed this in a recent interview with TVC.

“I have been an independent artist for 10 years. There are pros and cons of signing with a record label. I have seen the business side of doing music which a lot of people don’t see, they just focused only on making music.

“Being an independent artist gives me the opportunity to also do what I want. I’m in charge of my creativity.

“A label wanted to sign me after my debut single but I was sceptical because I didn’t want anyone to switch my style. Because at that time, nobody was doing Afro-house. They can dictate what you do because they are the ones financing you.

“For me, creative freedom is one of the major pros of being an indie artist,” she said.

Niniola shared that she is an introvert, but music helps her express her extroverted side.
