“I inspired Burna Boy, he can’t deny it” – Singer Skales asserts

  • Nigerian singer Skales, also known as Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, has claimed to have inspired his colleague Burna Boy during his career.
    • In an interview with Naija FM, Lagos, Skales revealed that Burna Boy, a Port Harcourt-born singer, had no hit song before featuring him on ‘Temper Remix’ in 2017.

Nigerian artist Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, widely recognized as Skales, has asserted that he played a role in inspiring his fellow musician, Burna Boy, during a certain phase of his career.

In a recent interview with Naija FM in Lagos, Skales stated that prior to their collaboration on the ‘Temper Remix’ in 2017, Burna Boy had not yet achieved any notable hits.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that Burna Boy has also served as a source of inspiration for him throughout the years.

Skales emphasized that the primary purpose of collaboration is to uplift and promote one another.

“I inspired Burna Boy. He will agree with me. So, nobody help anybody. We probably admire ourselves and we decide to work together.

“As at then, Burna boy had no hot song before I featured him on ‘Temper Remix.’

“It was after our collaboration that he started excelling. I’m not trying to take credit for his success but he has inspired me over the years and I believe I inspired him at a point, too,” Skales said.

In other news, Veteran rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, known as Ruggedman, has criticized those who are condemning afrobeats artist Davido for his remarks regarding the Nigerian economy.

According to GistLover, Davido has faced significant backlash after advising American citizens against considering a move to Africa, particularly Nigeria, due to the country’s economy being in a “shamble,” as stated in a recent podcast interview.

In response, Ruggedman asserted that Davido’s comments were accurate. He called on the government to address the economic issues so that such statements would not be necessary in the future.

He emphasized that attacking Davido does not contribute to resolving the country’s problems, highlighting the severe hardships faced by the populace.

On his X handle, the rapper wrote, “Ok Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation.

    The hardship is too much.”
