    • The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, won the election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
    • On Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Oshiomhole stated that Obaseki’s political future is bleak after his candidate, Asue Ighodalo, lost.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North and a former Governor of Edo State, has announced that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s political life is over following the September 21 governorship election results.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, won the election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

On Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today,’ Oshiomhole stated that Obaseki’s political future is bleak after his candidate, Asue Ighodalo, lost.

Oshiomhole called out Obaseki for going to the INEC office while results were being counted, implying it was a move to sway the results.

“How can a sitting governor go to a collation centre? To intimidate or possibly influence the results or to change the results? What was he doing there? How can a governor go to a collation centre when collation is going on?” he questioned.

Obaseki said he visited INEC to ask why the collation process had not started yet.

The former governor praised the people of Edo for removing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and criticized Obaseki’s earlier remarks calling the election a “do-or-die affair.”

“Obaseki said the election was a do-or-die affair. He told you that here. He insisted. Now, the people have done it, he’s dead.

“Now the people have done it, I guess he’s politically dead. I know so. The verdict is out,” Oshiomhole stated.

INEC announced that APC’s Monday Okpebholo won with 291,667 votes, ensuring the party’s success in Edo.
