“I remain committed to serving my country” – Former Minister of Women Affairs

    Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, commented on her dismissal from office by President Bola Tinubu on Thursday.

    In her remarks, Kennedy-Ohanenye expressed her appreciation to Tinubu for the chance to serve, affirming her commitment to continue supporting Nigeria’s development and prosperity.

    Reports indicated on Wednesday that the president had dismissed five ministers from his cabinet, including Kennedy-Ohanenye, as well as Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, and Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

    Additionally, Tahir Mamman was relieved of his responsibilities as Minister of Education, while Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo was dismissed from his position as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.

    In a statement released on Thursday, Kennedy-Ohanenye conveyed her gratitude to Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as minister, noting that it has been both an honour and a privilege to contribute to Nigeria’s progress.

    The statement reads, “I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for her invaluable guidance and support during my tenure as Minister of Women Affairs.

    “Her kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success.

    “To the people of Nigeria, I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration.

    “I remain committed to serving my country and will continue to do my utmost to contribute to its progress and prosperity.”
