Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has supported the move by any party to adopt a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
There have been different reactions to the speculation that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may field a Muslim as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election.
Some APC chieftains in their reactions have asked Nigerians to ignore the religion of the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate but focus on their competence, while religious bodies such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church have rejected the plan by any political party to field a Muslim/Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.
In a tweet via his verified Twitter page on Friday, Omokri advised Nigerians to focus on the credibility and competence of the candidate and his running mate and not their religion.
The former presidential aide added he is against the ruling APC because Tinubu is not credible and not due to the move to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
He wrote: “I said this before and I will say it again. There is NOTHING wrong with a Muslim-Muslim ticket if it is a good ticket of credible people. I am against the APC, not because of that plan, but because Tinubu is not credible. Let’s focus on credibility, not religiosity!”
