American singer and actress Selena Gomez has shared insights into her preparation for her role in the upcoming Spanish musical, ‘Emilia Pérez.’
The pop sensation disclosed that she took a hiatus from her music career and other engagements to dedicate herself to this role.
During a Question-and-Answer session with her fellow cast members at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
“I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher,” she said.
In this new musical, the 32-year-old artist portrays the character Jessi Del Monte.
She expressed that singing in the film was a “therapeutic” experience for her.
Netflix unveiled the first trailer for the Spanish-language French film on August 26.
The film, which also features Zoe Saldaña, is described in its synopsis as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
