Divine Ikubor aka Rema, an Afrobeats star, has spoken up about why he chose to pursue a career in music.
In an interview with Capital Xtral London, Rema described how his mother couldn’t afford transportation while she went about her daily business, so he was driven to succeed.
“I was tired of my mum trekking every day; she didn’t even have money for transport to use a bus or bike. So I had to take it to the next level ASAP,” he said.
“The moment I made money, I got her a car ASAP. We went for dinner, then I gave her that car. A lot of boys would go for their own cars first but I was stilltrekking, but I had to get a car for my mum first.
“She’s a great mum. She’s the reason I’m successful. Her prayers. She’s really proud of me.”
In other news, Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan, better known as Madrina, has issued a harsh warning to Mavin Records on the alleged misbehavior of their artists.
Cynthia Morgan, on her Instagram official page, expressed concern over Rema’s smoking habits and criticized Ayra Starr for her dress while meeting with American actor Will Smith.
On her Instagram story, the controversial dancehall performer attacked Ayra Starr’s regular skimpy outfit during their collaboration. She told her that there is more to life than music and stage performances.
Cynthia Morgan also threatened to track down the Mavin Records office if Rema’s smoking habit led to any consequences.
She wrote:
“Meeting will smith dressed up like that? There is more to life than music and stage performances my dear @ayrastarr
“And that rema wey they hold cigar wey he no sabi smoke. If anything happen to that boy mavins I go find una office.”
It would be recalled that Ayra Starr recently dined with Hollywood actor Will Smith in Rome after wowing fans with an incredible performance at a Coldplay concert.
