Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized as Tems and a Grammy award winner, has reflected on the initial stages of her career.
The artist known for her hit song “Essence” acknowledged her considerable naivety during the early phase of her professional journey.
In a conversation with Glamour Magazine Germany, Tems elaborated on the time it took her to effectively maneuver through the music industry.
“I don’t want to lie. I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to make good art. I had to learn how to navigate the music business in a healthy way,” she said.
Tems also expressed gratitude for the support she has received from her management and family, who have been instrumental in her success.
“I would say that it is both my management and my family that keep me grounded. Especially my family, my mother and my brother,” she added.
