“I Wish I Wrote Wizkid’s Hit Song, Essence “– U.S. Singer, Ne-Yo Lauds Wizkid

Popular American singer, Ne-Yo has said he wishes he’s the mastermind behind Wizkid and Tems’ ‘Essence’ song which has achieved global mainstream.

In an interview with the American entertainment magazine, NME, the music star spoke about songs he liked. When Wizkid‘s ‘Essence’ popped up in the conversation, the award-winning singer, dancer and songwriter said he wished her penned down the song because it’s one of those records that just makes sense.

He also revealed that he had once met the Nigerian Afrobeat superstar although he wasn’t sure Starboy would remember their meeting.

He’s quoted as saying; “It’s one of those records that just makes sense. They could run it back 17 times and you ain’t gonna say nothing, you’re just gonna let it happen. I wish that I’d have thought of it first.

I met him once, real quick – he wouldn’t remember. But I’m super proud of that dude for making the moves that he’s making. He’s one of the new generations that I can genuinely say I respect.”
