In a recent chat with Blakk Rasta on the Urban Blend show on 3FM, well-known Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, also called Maame Dokono, shared her desire for a statue in her honor.
While she feels grateful for the recognition she has gained over her long career, she thinks a statue at the Maame Dokono Park in Accra would truly celebrate her lasting impact.
Maame Dokono’s vision goes beyond her own recognition. She sees the monument as a way to inspire future generations to follow their dreams and strive for success, just like she has. Her request shows her commitment to making a lasting difference, motivating young people to build on her legacy.
Nonetheless, the veteran actress pointed out that she does not want to push her wishes onto anyone. She respects the freedom of those involved and is willing to let them decide about the statue. Her humility and grace in making this personal request highlight the same qualities that have endeared her to both fans and colleagues.
“Yes! I think there should be my statue there for my legacy to be in the minds of the little ones who are coming because I am even in their books.”
“If something like that could be erected in my honor, it will be a nice thing. I am not forcing anybody to do it but if it is done, fine.” She stated.
Maame Dokono’s sincere wish reflects her deep understanding of legacy and her aim to help society, even after her impressive accomplishments in film and theater.
