“I work for every penny I get” – Diva Gold

  • Diva Gold, an actress and skit maker, disagrees with the belief that women find things easier than men.
    • In an interview with Saturday Beats, she refutes the notion that women in Africa find things easy, stating that she works tirelessly for every penny she earns, seeking content ideas and movie features, despite no free money.
    • The actress expresses her biggest red flag in a relationship is lack of communication, which she believes is a deal breaker. She also admits that she craves attention from her partner, even if it’s not given, which can lead to a desire for their attention.

An actress and content creator, Olukemi Niyi-Aluko, known as Diva Gold, contests the notion held by some that women have an easier path than men.

In a discussion with Saturday Beats, she remarked, “I don’t know who made that statement that women generally find things easy in Africa. I am hustling for every penny I get. Nobody is giving me any free money. Day and night, I have to work and think of ideas for content. I have to look for people to feature me in their movies. It has just been the grace of God. I don’t believe in that saying that women find it easy. I am working so hard.”

Regarding the relationship red flag she finds most troubling, she expressed, “My biggest red flag in a relationship, which I think I am also guilty of, is lack of communication. They say unlike poles attract, because I suck at communicating. If he also sucks at communication, I am sorry we cannot work together. That’s like a deal breaker for me. But, there are times I would want the person’s attention even if I am not giving it. If I see that I am being given attention by my partner even if I am distracted, the fact that I am being given attention will make me want to give mine.”

When asked about her satisfaction with her career progress, she replied, “How can I be satisfied? Where am I? I give glory to God and I am not taking where I am for granted. I am really grateful to God but being satisfied? No, I haven’t even reached anywhere.”
