Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has claimed that he wrote several hit songs for his colleague, Ayodeji Balogun, well known as Wizkid, when they were both at Empire Mates Entertainment, an EME record label.
Skales said on ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’, hosted by content creator Bae U the Barbie, that he co-wrote several of the songs on Wizkid’s first album, ‘Super Star,’ including the bonus track ‘Wiz Party.’
Skales during the interview however admitted that Wizkid also wrote songs for him, including the hit ‘Mukulu.’
In his words:
“Back in EME, we were a team so we used to write songs for each other. I wrote songs for Wizkid. He also wrote songs for me, too.
“He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.’ As I said, EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.”
Wizkid and Skales were among the first artistes signed to Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, owned by R&B star and music executive, Banky W, in the early 2010s.
They both later left the record label after a series of disagreements with Banky W.
In an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu a few years ago, Banky W revealed that Wizkid owed EME three albums based on his initial contract with the label.
