Maureen Bahema, an East African woman residing in Sweden, has ignited online discussions with her views on submission in relationships.
Sharing her perspective on the microblogging platform X on Sunday, March 16, she advised women who are unwilling to be submissive before marriage to allow space for those who are.
According to Bahema, submission is not a trait that suddenly emerges after marriage but rather something that should be evident during the dating stage.
“Ladies, if you can’t submit to a man in a relationship, you won’t submit to him in marriage. A ring on your finger won’t suddenly bring a spirit of submission the day after your wedding. Submission doesn’t happen overnight. It begins in a relationship. You either step up or step aside for the woman who will!!” she wrote.

@TheMan: “Dem don dey cry😂😂😂😂😂. They hate the word submit, even the ones claiming to be submissive wives, it’s because, the man still has some money, make him jam hard time first, you will see them true color.
@Grief Counsellor: “All marriage advise is for the women. Nobody tells the men to treat their wives well so their prayers would be unhindered.”
@HilaryMashava: “Facts only 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾.”
@Timeless414: “Submission should be both ways, you both needs to submit your minds and bodies to each other but there has to be a captain piloting the affairs of the family, which is the man and that should never be up for debate.
@Idkjeniii: “A healthy relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, and understanding, not just submission.
@Madebodefi: “I can imagine how some women feel like strangl*ng you right now 😂😂😂.”
