Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo’s team Changchun Yatai have been relegated from the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.
Yatai were beaten 2-0 by Dalian Yifang at the Dalian Sports Center Stadium in Sunday’s final league encounter.
That meant Yatai ended the season with 32 points from 30 games as Ighalo who scored 21 goals for the side, missed out of the clash due to a hamstring injury.
The Nigerian had the last term bagged 15 goals for the Chinese Super League club.
Similarly, Mikel Obi’s side Tianjin Teda escaped the claws of relegation despite a 5-1 away loss to Guangzhou Evergrande at the Tianhe Stadium.
This made them end the season with 32 points but they had a superior head-to-head against Yatai.
Shanghai SIPG claimed the 2017/18 Chinese Super League (CSL) crown for the first time ever.
