An expatriate Nigerian man, called IJGB (I Just Got Back), has ignited conversations online by sharing his astonishment at the high costs of a night out in Nigeria.
He came back for the Christmas season and recounted his visit to an upscale seafood restaurant.
In his post, @kennyninobrown shared two images: one displaying his bank balance above a million naira and the other showing it reduced to just 250,000 naira following the night out.
Accompanying the photos, he humorously captioned, “Just one night out in Nigeria 🇳🇬🙄🙄 I no do again oo🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️🏃🏾♂️.”
The post spread rapidly, attracting many Nigerians who shared their thoughts on the increasing cost of living and luxury lifestyles in the country. Some expressed sympathy, joking that IJGBs often don’t realize how expensive festive outings can be in Nigeria, while others noted that these restaurants are famous for their high prices.
A social media user @iamscrummy_ responded, “There’s nothing in this life, spend that money! You live only once!”
Another user @efe_edwards added, “You never see anything, shebi you wan ball ni! Naija sweet, Naija sweet, only if you spend money o 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂.”
