Iju-Ishaga Youths Hit Street to Protest Mohbad’s Death

In memory of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, youths in Iju-Ishaga neighborhood Lagos state held a peaceful protest on Thursday.

At the non-violent rally, held at Fagba Junction, young people carrying various placards called for justice in the singer’s untimely death.

On September 12, Mohbad, a former Marlian Records signee, passed away. He was buried the following day.

Youths in some cities across Nigeria have taken to the streets to demand justice for the late singer, and the circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old’s death have continued to stir up debates on social media.

On Tuesday, protesters gathered in the Panseke neighborhood of Abeokuta to voice their displeasure over Mohbad’s death, while others congregated in some areas of Ondo to call for a thorough investigation of the incident.

The demonstrations also spread to additional cities, including Ado-Ekiti, Agege, Akure, and Asaba, where some young people gathered to light candles in memory of the late singer.

The protests are anticipated to last the entire week as Mohbad supporters from Ibadan and some areas of Lagos have also set dates for their demonstrations.

To look into the singer’s death, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-person special investigation team.
