Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has announced his intention to re-enter politics in 2027 upon the completion of his studies.
El-Rufai shared this information during an interview on a Hausa program aired by Freedom Radio Kaduna.
According to Gistloverl, he served as the governor of Kaduna from 2015 to 2023 and was initially considered by President Bola Tinubu for a ministerial role following his inauguration last year.
However, due to significant political maneuvering, El-Rufai ultimately did not secure a ministerial appointment under contentious circumstances.
In the interview, he reaffirmed his dedication to public service, stating, “I plan to return to politics in 2027 after completing my studies. Politics has no retirement. By the grace of Allah, I will be back to continue serving the people.”
El-Rufai also addressed allegations from the Kaduna State House of Assembly, which claimed that N423 billion was misappropriated during his tenure. He categorically rejected these accusations, asserting, “I didn’t enter politics to steal or enrich myself. I was already content with what I had before becoming governor.”
It is noteworthy that the former governor recently held discussions with former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Kwakwanso, although the specifics of these meetings have not been disclosed.
