Jelly Bee, an artist affiliated with the ABangz Originals music label, has provided an overview of her latest EP, titled “Sappy.”
She characterizes it as a creative endeavor that encapsulates both joyful and sorrowful experiences, underscoring her ambition to make a meaningful contribution to the African music landscape.
The Sierra Leonean vocalist, whose real name is Betty Lamboi, is making significant progress within the Nigerian music industry.
She articulates her musical identity as that of a preacher, educator, and entertainer, qualities she asserts are reflected in her new EP, “Sappy.”
“Musically, Jelly Bee is a hope giver, a preacher, a teacher, and an entertainer,” she explains.
“Because I do certain songs that give hope, preach love and peace, teach lessons, and of course make people happy.”
“Sappy is a reflection of these attributes. Sappy is about happy and sad moments. Every teacher and preacher knows life isn’t all about good times; there are highs and lows. This is something Sappy is trying to drive home. Don’t get me wrong, Jelly Bee is all about positive vibes and energy all the way, but unfortunately, life is not always that way, and we have to come to grips with this reality,” she adds.
Jelly Bee further emphasizes that her musical style and sound are distinctive in their ability to communicate messages effectively. She describes “Sappy” as a fusion of varied emotions.
She notes that her most successful track to date is “Better Than,” which holds significant meaning for her as it narrates her life story and reflects the experiences shared with her family, particularly her father.
