    • The movie star expressed his satisfaction when fans recognize and commend his acting skills.

Award-winning Nollywood actor and model, Chimezie Imo, has expressed his preference for being recognized as an actor rather than a celebrity.

According to Naija News, Imo made this statement during an interview with Punch, where he reflected on his career, personal insights, and his philosophy regarding acting.

The film star conveyed that he feels a sense of fulfillment when fans acknowledge him as an actor and praise his performances.

Imo characterized 2024 as the most transformative year of his life, noting that he gained significant knowledge and underwent numerous personal and professional changes.

He stated that, in spite of his increasing fame, Imo preferred to be referred to as an actor rather than a celebrity. He said, “For me, it has always been about the work. Like I tell people, I am not a celebrity—I am an actor. I love the work, and when people know me for my work and appreciate it, that’s when it means a lot to me. Not just about being recognised as an actor, but when people can point to the work I did and say it means something to them. That’s fulfillment for me.”

“2024 has been the most special year for me. It’s been interesting. I learnt so much, and a lot happened to me, both personally and in my career. I think it was my best year yet.

“As for my colleagues coming up, I advise them to never stop learning as an actor. I tell myself that too; learning never stops.”

Reflecting on the changing dynamics of his family life, particularly during the Yuletide, the actor said, “I have always had Christmas with my family, but now I miss that because everyone is all grown and scattered all over the world. I miss that time when we all sat at home and had rice like every family. For me, it was always coconut rice.”
