Ijeoma Otabor, known as Phyna, a reality television star and actress, has recently garnered attention for her statement regarding her decision to distance herself from her family name, noting that no relatives have contacted her since then. Despite this, she asserts that she is actively pursuing her aspirations.
In a conversation with Saturday Beats, she remarked, “I have always wanted to be an actress, even when I was in school. If I heard about an audition in Zamfara State, I was ready to go there. It is more like a dream come true for me, because I am now living my dreams.”
The winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7 also highlighted the rapid progression of her career in Nollywood. She stated, “My journey into Nollywood has been very fast. At some point, I used to count how many movies I had done in the past two years, and then I lost count. For sure, I have come so far, and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to get into 2025, start doing big screens, and accomplish even more things.”
When questioned about her aspirations to venture into filmmaking, Phyna indicated her desire to explore this avenue later in her professional journey.
“Being a filmmaker is something I want to do later on. I have already done two YouTube movies for myself, but it’s something I plan to pursue more in my 30s. I’m still in my 20s and just getting started. Entertainment, in general, is what I’m in for, and I’m ready for it,” she said.
