Emerging music star Fido has refuted allegations of being a one-hit wonder, asserting that his recent single, “Joy is Coming,” serves as evidence to the contrary.
Fido, who initially captured attention with his debut track “Awolowo,” acknowledged that skepticism arose following the moderate success of his subsequent release, “Mr. Lover.” He attributed the song’s underwhelming performance to a change in marketing strategy.
“We had to put the marketing for Mr. Lover on hold and focus more on pushing Awolowo at the time,” he explained. “At some point, I felt I could always return to promoting Mr. Lover because it’s still my song. But then, I started hearing people say, ‘Fido na one-hit wonder,’ so we decided to drop a fresh track instead. Mr. Lover is a banger if you really listen to it.”
Looking to the future, Fido announced plans to unveil a five-track EP in February.
“I have my body of work ready, and by God’s grace, I’ll be dropping it in February,” he said.
