“I’m sorry for defaming you” – Halima Abubakar offers a heartfelt apology to Apostle Suleman Johnson

  • Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has ended her controversial relationship with Nigerian cleric Apostle Johnson Suleman, following years of accusations that impacted his ministry and personal life.
  • Halima publicly apologized for false accusations, causing shockwaves in the entertainment and religious communities.

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has ultimately conceded in her contentious and scandalous dispute with prominent Nigerian cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman, following years of relentless accusations that profoundly impacted both his ministry and personal life.

In a surprising and heartfelt development, Halima publicly apologized, revealing her innermost feelings and confessing that her allegations were unfounded—an astonishing turnaround that has reverberated through both the entertainment and religious sectors.

On Wednesday, October 23, Halima utilized her Instagram platform to convey this apology, presenting a letter filled with remorse and regret, directed specifically to the individual she had previously accused of grave misconduct.

For the first time, she disarmed herself, recognizing the falsehoods she had perpetuated for over a year—assertions that not only depicted Apostle Suleman as an adulterer but also implicated him in her ongoing health issues.

She admitted to damaging his reputation and acknowledged that the allegations of clandestine affairs, pregnancies, and miscarriages were merely a fabrication.

This public apology follows years of acrimonious conflict. In 2022, Halima Abubakar ignited social media with serious accusations, claiming to have had an affair with Apostle Suleman, which she alleged contributed to her declining health.

In her most provocative assertion, Halima shockingly claimed that the cleric had sexual relations with her during a time of bleeding and that she had been pregnant with his child three times, tragically losing each pregnancy.

These allegations prompted Apostle Suleman to pursue legal recourse, intent on vindicating his name amidst the scandal. In April 2024, the Federal Capital Territory High Court ruled in favor of the cleric, mandating the Nollywood actress to pay N10 million in damages for defamation.

Despite the court’s ruling, Halima remained steadfast, unwilling to relent—until now.
