“I’m still not rich after 60 years in Nollywood” – Jide Kosoko reveals

  • Jide Kosoko, a veteran actor with over 60 years of experience in Nollywood, has expressed that his fame has not resulted in substantial wealth.
    • Kosoko, in an interview on The Honest Bunch podcast, admitted that he is comfortable but doesn’t consider himself rich by Nigerian standards.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko has expressed that, despite his extensive fame and over 60 years of experience in Nollywood, he has not amassed significant wealth.

During his appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, Kosoko shared that while he is comfortable, he does not view himself as wealthy by Nigerian standards.

“I have been in this [movie] industry for this long. I thank God that I can eat three square meals. But can I claim to be a rich man by Nigerian standards? No,” he said.

The 71-year-old film icon highlighted the detrimental effects of piracy on the Nigerian film industry and advocated for stricter penalties for offenders.

“The punishment in the copyright law for piracy is still not strong enough as far as I am concerned. Somebody who has been pirating people’s works for years is a billionaire, so how much do you want to fine him?

“Fine him N500 million, and he will just bring it out of what he has sold. But if you attach a 20-year jail sentence to it with no option of a fine, people will refrain from piracy,” he said.

Jide Kosoko began his acting journey as a child actor in 1964 with a television production titled Makanjuola. Since then, he has appeared in numerous Nollywood films in both English and Yoruba languages.

In other news, Prominent socialite Cubana Chiefpriest expressed his gratitude for being in a relationship with the award-winning artist Davido.

He shared this sentiment in an Instagram post after the two were seen together over the weekend in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

In a video he posted, showing Davido’s Bombardier aircraft arriving at the private terminal of Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos, he remarked on how “super sweet to have Africa’s biggest artist as his best friend.”

He captioned the video: “It feels super sweet having the African biggest artist @davido as my best friend, I’m not lucky, I’m blessed. Money dey!!! See As Our Bombardier long”

Davido traveled to Accra to perform at the exclusive 40th birthday celebration of Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye.

During the event, he shared the stage with Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and several prominent Ghanaian artists, including Sarkodie, KiDi, Stonebwoy, and Efya.
