The president of Nigeria’s Actor Guild, Emeka Rollas, recently shared his thoughts on Wakanda Forever and why he believes Nollywood actors were shortchanged by not being in the film.
Rollas noted that Wakanda Forever is an African story, and Nigeria has a stake in it, owing to General Okoye’s role.
Okoye is a Nigerian name, and the role would have been better suited for a Nollywood actress, according to the AGN president.
Emeka Rollas believes Ini Edo, Kate Henshaw, and Destiny Etiko would have done an excellent job.
He also stated that while he is aware that a South African played the role, he does not believe it was fair to deny a Nigerian the opportunity to star in such a global franchise.
However, it is worth noting that Tems and Rema’s voices were heavily featured in Wakanda Forever. Emeka Rollas’ interview is embedded below:
