Nollywood actress Ini Edo has taken to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude following the successful burial of her father, Elder Jonathan Ekim Edo.
The actress had announced her father’s passing in February, and last Friday, she and her siblings laid him to rest in their hometown in Akwa Ibom State. The burial ceremony was attended by several notable figures in the entertainment industry, including Rita Dominic, Nancy Isime, Ruth Kadiri, Uche Jombo, Real Warri Pikin, IK Ogbonna, Lilian Afegbai, and Desmond Elliot.
In a touching Instagram post, Ini described her father as a man deeply devoted to God, full of life, and the soul of every gathering. She extended her sincere appreciation to the people and government of Akwa Ibom State for their overwhelming love and support throughout the mourning period.
She also thanked the immediate past governor of the state, along with her friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who stood by her and her family during this emotional time.
Reflecting on the challenges her family has faced—spiritually, physically, and financially—Ini acknowledged the strong values their father instilled in them: love, resilience, unity, and reverence for God. She expressed pride in how her family came together to honor their patriarch and believes they truly made him proud.
“To the glory of God, we gave our father a funeral befitting for a man after God’s heart, A lover of life, and the heart of the part.
A special thank you to the good people and Government of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Gov Umo Eno and our Amiable Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Akon Eyakenyi. For your support and show of love. My family and I, are forever grateful
To my immediate Past Governor, His Excellency Udom Emmanuel, My own uncle and His entire family. Words cannot express how elated we are that you graced us with your esteemed presence and support throughout this trying time. May God continue to bless and preserve you and your entire household.
To my adorable colleagues and friends. Y’all made me so proud and emotional. Considering the present state of the economy and your very busy schedules, y’all showed up and out for me.
Life feels a little easier and a lot brighter with friends like you. Thank you for always showing up, for standing by me, and for being the kind of person I can always count on. I don’t take it for granted.”
And to my dearest family, since Daddy passed in December, we have been challenged spiritually, physically and financially. I am grateful for the upbringing of love, resilience, fear of God and togetherness instilled in us by our parents that kept us going and level-headed through it all. I am so proud of us, and I am sure we made Daddy proud. I pray we all live in Good health, and may our children have the privilege of doing the same for us when the time is right.
