Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, disavowed responsibility for the state’s escalating insecurity and issued a challenge to those who have accused him and added it was just a way for oppostion to tarnish his image and reputation. The governor declared that nothing could prevent him from serving God and humanity because he was a recipient of God’s grace, mercy, and kindness.
During the dedication of St. Parish Ozuh Omuma of Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Uzodimma gave a speech in his hometown of Ozuh Omuma, Oru East local government area.
The church dedication would help to foster peace and put an end to the insecurity and bloodletting in the area and other parts of the state, according to the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Orlu, Most Rev Dr. Augustine Ukwuoma.
In his remarks following the service, Uzodimma expressed gratitude to the dignitaries present and insisted that neither he nor his government were responsible for the killings in Imo.
He called the suggestion “evil, devilish, and an attempt to smear his reputation and blackmail” his government.
In order to serve the people, Uzodimma emphasized that he needs peace. He urged those responsible for the state’s insecurity to reconsider their actions or prepare to face God’s wrath.
The governor asserted that despite all the allegations and extortion attempts leveled against him and his government, God has shown to be by his side because all authority belongs to God.
Bishop Ukwuoma thanked the governor in his homily for erecting and presenting to the Catholic Church a magnificent place of worship for the worship of God.
The cleric issued a warning against any offenses in the church, claiming that with the dedication of the church, it has now become the property of the diocese and the universal church.
A lot of hardship exists in the nation, so he pleaded with the leaders to guide the people well. “
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) strike is imminent, and the bishop made an appeal to the leaders to do everything in their power to stop it because it would not benefit the common people but instead cause them more problems.
