The Italian government says airports will begin operating on June 3.

The date is when national and international travels will resume.

Dpa reports that Paola De Micheli, Transport Minister, made the announcement on Wednesday.

European Union (EU) citizens will be allowed to enter Italy without undergoing mandatory quarantine.

Already, train connections have resumed service.

Italy implemented one of the stiffest lockdowns to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

Last Saturday, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced an additional ease of movement restrictions.

Italy, in March, became the country with the most number of coronavirus-related deaths and high number of cases daily.
