Actor Ibrahim Yekini, known as Itele d Icon, has reacted to fans who criticized his recent support for singer Wizkid.
The actor has been openly backing Wizkid, who just released his long-awaited album, Morayo, a few days ago.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Itele addressed the negative comments, sharing screenshots of people mocking him for supporting Wizkid’s music.
He encouraged his critics to stop the attacks, stating that those who know him understand he openly expresses his admiration for people and things he loves.
He mentioned that currently, Wizkid is his top artist. Itele wrote:
“I’ve noticed some reactions lately because I’ve been posting Wizkid’s music. To those who feel upset, I want to say this: we shouldn’t attack each other just because I chose my favorite artist.
“If you know me well, you’ll understand that this is my style. I love something or someone, and I show it openly. That’s how I believe love should be expressed,”
He reassured his real fans, explaining that he often shares songs from different artists on his page to express his inspirations.
He requested that fans not turn against him for his recent admiration of Wizkid. Itele added:
“For my true supporters, you’ll know that I often use different music on my page, and it’s always been about sharing what inspires me.
“So please, don’t dislike me for loving Wizkid! And don’t stop loving me for being true to myself. At the end of the day, it’s all about love and positivity. Let’s spread more of that.”
The post ended with Itele asking his followers to look at the next slide, which showed screenshots of the negative comments.
