Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, has voiced his frustration over the singer’s continued detention by the Nigeria Police, despite a high court granting him bail.
In a video shared on Instagram, Alieke condemned the police for ignoring the court’s order and shed light on the difficulties in securing his client’s release. He also addressed criticism from Nigerians who argued that Speed Darlington deserved the situation due to his history of attacking others’ reputations.
“Yesterday marked 31 days in detention. People are saying, ‘stop the emotional blackmail, advise your client.’ Let’s move on from that because those arguments are nonsense; this could happen to anyone,” Alieke stated.
He further expressed disappointment over the lack of support from prominent figures, contrasting it with a previous case where Burna Boy stepped in to assist.
“I’ve exhausted my connections; no one wants to help Speed Darlington. The first time he was arrested, Burna Boy showed up with his team and handed out bundles of cash to the police officers,” he revealed.
The prolonged detention raises questions about adherence to legal processes and the challenges faced by individuals in seeking justice.
