Jean-Pierre Adams‘ Biography
The late footballer was born in Dakar, Senegal, on the 10th of March 1948. There is no information about who his parents or siblings were, but the records revealed his grandmother raised him.
He was in Senegal until he turned ten years old, after which he went on a pilgrimage to Montargis in the Loiret department with his grandmother, who was a pious Catholic.
On arriving at Montargis, his grandmother put him in a local Catholic school, Saint-Louis de Montargis. After a short while, Jean Pierre Adams was adopted by a French couple, who took care of him.
Career
While he was still pursuing his education, Adams was already working and had worked at a local rubber company. He would later consider a career in football and started playing at local clubs in the Loiret area.
Football club career
Jean-Pierre Adams played as a striker with Entente BFN in 1967; during his time with the club, they emerged the Championnat de France Amateur twice. He went on to sign for Nimes in 1970. He also has played for top French football clubs like representing Nice and Paris Saint-Germain PSG.
He finally retired in 1981 at the age of 33, following a short stint with Chalon.
At the club level, he made a total of 285 appearances and had 26 goals to his name.
Adams also played for the French national team from 1972 to 1976, making a total of 22 appearances for France.
Personal life
Adams got married to his wife, Bernadette, in April 1969, and she was with him till the point of his death. Their union was blessed with two sons named Laurent, born in 1969, and Frédéric, born in 1976.
Injury
Adams suffered a ligament rupture injury and was hospitalised for surgery on 17th March 1982 at the Édouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon, France.
However, the unexpected happened following an error by his anesthesiologist. He suffered bronchospasm, which caused his brain to be short of oxygen, and he slipped into a coma for 39 years.
Adams passed on on the 6th of September 2021 in Nimes at the age of 73.
