Jide Kosoko Spearheads Protests against the Use of Audio-Visual Contents without Payment

Veteran and popular Nollywood actors including Jide Kosoko, Ejike Asiagbu, Yemi Solade, Emeka Osai, Grace Amah and many other filmmakers have picketed Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos, as instigated by the Audio-visual Rights Society (AVRS).

However the group accuses the hotel located in Ikeja GRA of refusal to pay for use of their intelligent properties in their different branches.

AVRS boss, Mahmood Alli-Balogun, who is also the Chairman of the Copyright Management Organization, said Radisson Blu owes the copyright collective society close to N50 million.

He disclosed that all efforts to meet, discuss and negotiate with the management of the hotel, met the brick walls, hence the protest.

Top Nigerian actors who protested at the scene include Alli-Balogun, Grace Amah, Yinka Akanbi, Sunny Mcdon, and Fred Amata.

The creative led by the Copyright Management Organization, Audio Visuals Right Society on Tuesday disrupted services at the hotel for what they have described as the management’s refusal to pay royalties for its use of audio-visual contents in its chain of hotels.

According to Ali-Balogun, picketing became a last resort for the actors after months of dialogue and negotiations broke down without any agreement.
