Jimi Agbaje, former Lagos state gubernatorial candidate said he is set to run again in 2019.
He disclosed this to NAN on Wednesday. Agbaje at first, didn’t want to run, but his supporters persuaded him to change his mind.
“It is true that initially I did not want to re-contest, but I had so many people urging me to run. I bought and submitted my nomination form shortly before it closed. I will be part of the PDP Lagos governorship primaries, billed for Friday, September 28th,” he said.
“Our primaries have always been open, fair and free for all,” he added. “This is what we are known for, and that is the way I expect it to be.”
“It is the people of Lagos State that will decide. The issues in the party will not impart negatively on votes,” he said. “Most Nigerians now vote for individuals rather than party.”
Jimi Agbaje was PDP candidate for the Lagos gubernatorial seat, in 2015 but lost his bid for the coveted position to Akinwunmi Ambode of the All progressives Congress (APC). Having contested twice for the seat, Mr Agbaje promised never to run again, as there are other ways he can contribute his quota to the development of the state and the country in general.
