After serving as a priest for more than nine years, Reverend Lefoko Mogotsi announced his resignation in an emotional video posted to TikTok.

The reverend explained in the moving video he posted on his account that he had made the difficult choice to give up his calling in order to put his mental health first.

The pressures of his position as a priest had had a significant negative impact on Reverend Mogotsi’s health, which he disclosed had been a problem for him for a number of years.

As he candidly discussed his struggles and emphasized the need to put his own wellbeing first while also taking a break from the taxing nature of his work, the video struck a powerful chord with viewers.

He wrote;

“After 9 years of being a priest, I am making the hardest decision of my life. I’ve decided to let go of my calling for the sake of my mental health. I am walking away. Judge me all you want.”
