Junior Pope: 9 Things To Know About Late Nollywood Actor

The well-known Nollywood actor Pope Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, perished in the water on Wednesday while filming a scene.

While returning from a film location, Junior Pope and three of his colleagues perished in their boat, which overturned on the Anam River in Anambra State.

After being pulled out of the water, he spent some time healing before tragically dying.

Emeka Rollas, the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, announced his passing on Thursday and said that three more bodies have not yet been located.

1. Although Junior Pope was born in Cameroon on May 7, 1984, he immigrated to Nigeria at an early age.
2. He is from the Enugu State town of Ukehe.
3. The actor received a degree in accounting from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu State.
4. Junior Pope debuted as an actor in 2006 and has since been in over 150 Nollywood productions, including the films Bachelor Eve, Vengeance of Bullet, Bitter Generation, The Generals, Wrong Initiation, The Cat, Nkwocha, and Secret Adventure, to name a few.
5. He married Jennifer Awele in 2014, and the two of them are blessed with three children.
6. His faith identified as Christian.
7. The actor posted a video of himself pleading for protection on April 9, 2023. Sadly, the accident occurred on their return journey the following day.
8. It is ironic that he passed away during the production of the film “The Other Side of Life.”
