JUST-IN: Naira Marley to Face Court on October 30 Over Credit Card Fraud Allegation

A production warrant was issued against controversial Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, by Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday.

Naira Marley is facing 11 counts of conspiracy and credit card fraud, according to a statement released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday.

“At the Friday session that was resumed, the defendant’s attorney, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, informed the court that the defendant was unable to appear in court because he had been arrested by the police and was being questioned about the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

Ojo therefore requested a trial adjournment from the court.

In response, however, the prosecution’s attorney, Bilkisu Buhari, asked the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant in order to guarantee his attendance in court on the following postponed date.

“Judge Oweibo granted the prosecution’s attorney’s requests and issued a production warrant against the defendant.

In order to continue the trial, the judge further postponed the case until October 30, 2023, according to the EFCC.

By implication, Naira Marley, who is presently detained by the Lagos State Police Command for his alleged part in the circumstances surrounding the demise of another singer, IleriOluwa Aloba, a. k. Barring a last-minute change, a Mohbad will appear before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on October 30.
