According to the Supreme Court, it will rule on the appeals submitted by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the presidency on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Atiku and Obi are contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) proclamation of All Progressives Congress (APC) President Bola Tinubu as the victor of the February 25 presidential election.
They both submitted independent appeals to the highest court, hoping to overturn the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal’s (PEPT) ruling that rejected their petitions and upheld Tinubu’s election victory.
Remember that on October 23, 2023, following the adoption of the parties’ briefs of arguments, a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court Justices, chaired by Justice Inyang Okoro, reserved decision.
Atiku is requesting that Tinubu’s election victory be declared void at the highest court since he is accused of providing a fraudulent academic diploma to INEC in order to run for president.
