The old woman who was simply identified as Kuburat Ayinde was interrogated by policemen after they rescued her from a mob who had accused her of kidnapping the dead baby.
The policemen gathered from Ayinde that the child she had strapped on her back was her Grandchild whom she was rushing to the hospital to get medical care. She said the baby belonged to her daughter who is mentally ill.
After she made this revelation, the police detained her to verify her claims.
The command spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos said they were able to verify the woman’s claims after the said daughter and other family members showed up at the station to confirm what Ayinde had told the police.
